Court orders IEBC to allow Sonko to Vie for Mombasa Gubernatorial Position.
The High Court in Mombasa has ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) to accept Sonko’s nomination to vie for Mombasa Governor’s position.
The ruling has been made despite Sonko’s impeachment as Nairobi Governor which barred him from vying for any electoral seat.
Mike Sonko was impeached 2 years ago after allegations of corruption and misappropriation of public funds in Nairobi County.
The news comes in the midst of Sonko’s pending appeal case at the high court in Nairobi. He was barred a while ago from contesting for the position of Governor of Nairobi after being impeached.
