Family of Six Murdered Over 18 Acres of Land.

A family of six in Muranga County, Makenji village was on Saturday night burnt to death in their home. Reports indicate that the deceased were found piled in one corner of a room that was locked from the outside. A suspected arsonist locked the brick house with the members in it and lit the house after flooding it with petrol.

The neighbors were woken up by loud screams and thick smoke but were unsuccessful in their attempt to rescue the family. The family members included  Mary Wangui,60, her three children, and two grandchildren who were unfortunately burnt beyond recognition.

Ms. Margret Njora, a neighbor said they were woken up by the fire and took action immediately. Murang’a County Government fire brigade arrived but it was too late to save them.

It is a tragedy that a whole family has been wiped out. We leave it to God since it is painful to lose all those people at once. Said Ms Njora.

Murang’a County Police Commander, Mr. Nuno who visited the scene said the victims had been involved in a land dispute after the death of their father, Mr. Joseph Njoroge 21yrs ago.

The homicide department of DCI has taken over the scene, gathering information to establish what happened . Sid Mr. Nuno.

The police commander added that one suspect connected with the massacre is in custody to help with the investigation.
