200 Golfers to grace KCB Golf Tour in Eldoret this Weekend
The second leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour kicked off today at the Par 72 Eldoret Golf Club as the series made its way to the Rift Valley region.
A huge field of 200 top amateur golfers is expected to headline the eagerly anticipated tournament. The afternoon tee will kick off at noon at the 9-hole course, surrounded by huge trees, several dog-legged fairways, and excellent greens.
Speaking ahead of the tourney, Eldoret Club Captain Mathew Koech said, “ For the second year running, this amazing club will be part of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour. I cannot wait to see all the golfers who have signed up for this tournament brave the greens. I expect a good outing, and I hope that through our partnership with KCB, we will continue to elevate the sport.”
From the weekend’s action, the top two teams will book a slot in the tour’s grand finale, slated for December 6, 2024. Currently, Prisca Jebet, Rishi Dodhia, Florence Karimi, Orpha Wamaitha, captain James Gitonga, Elijah Ibua, Gabriel, Gakuo, and Peter Karanja have secured their places having triumphed in Mombasa.
In a bid to further enhance the game, KCB will on Sunday host a juniors’ and ladies’ clinic at the same venue. Additionally, the bank will engage in a tree-planting initiative at the club, ensuring sustainability is at the heart of the golf series.
“Through the KCB golf series, we intend to widen our reach compared to last year’s tour and Eldoret provides a good opportunity to onboard budding golfers into the game. We aim to make this sport as accessible as possible,” noted KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru.
After the Eldoret edition, the tour will resume action on April 11 at the Kakamega Golf Club for its third leg. KCB will, however, sponsor club nights at the Railways and Nandi Bears Club in March and early April, respectively.
