Honor Magic V3 Goes Official: 50MP Camera and 5,150 mAh Battery

Honor caused quite a stir last year when it unveiled the Magic V2, which at the time was the thinnest foldable available, measuring just 9.9 mm when folded and 4.7 mm when unfurled. Honor has now unveiled the Magic V3, its replacement, which has a thinner and slimmer shell and boasts all-around improvements.

When the Magic V3’s 7.92-inch main screen is unfolded, its folded dimensions drop to just 4.35mm (camera bump not included). Honor reduced the thickness of its flagship foldable by using an improved hinge mechanism that is rated for 500,000 folds and only 2.84 mm thick. The aluminum alloy used in the frame is from the 7-series.

Significantly lighter than the recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, the Magic V3 weighs only 226 grams, which is comparable to bar phones like the Magic 6 Pro.
Honor has incorporated the IPX8 water-resistant rating, which is actually a first for its foldables.

Display.

The Magic V3 boasts a 6.43-inch LTPO cover screen with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz and FHD+ resolution. Its 20:9 aspect ratio should make typing and general use easier. Like the Magic V2 from the previous year, it has a 2,500 nits peak brightness rating and stylus input capabilities.

Camera.

The back houses three cameras: a 40MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2), a 50MP periscope with a 3.5x optical zoom (f/3.0), and a 50MP main shooter with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS. There are also 20 MP front-facing cameras on the cover and primary screens. In August, Honor also promised to support the Harcourt portrait mode.

Based on Android 14, MagicOS 8.0.1 handles the software side and offers an array of AI functions, such as Honor Parallel Space and circle to search. When the latter is paired with dual SIM capability, you may divide the primary display and effectively have two phones, each with its own apps and profiles.

The Magic V3 comes with a 5,150 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 66W of wired and 50W of wireless charging capacity.

The phone retails in black, white, green, and red. The 12/256GB trim level costs CNY 8,999 ($1,240), while the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant costs CNY 10,999 ($1,516). China’s open sales begin on July 19.
