Other Methods for Keeping Your Data Private
To back up and/or save vital data, many of us use a Cloud Storage Service. If you use one of these, choose a storage solution that encrypts your files automatically. Because the cloud provider has access to the key to your encryption, they may be able to view your data and even share it with government authorities if they so wish.
You can avoid this issue by encrypting your files manually before transferring them to the cloud. As a result, you will have complete control over your data. Your cloud provider will have no access to the encryption keys unless you also upload them to the cloud.
Even if you have no past expertise manually encrypting your data, there are various free encryption apps available that are straightforward to use.
Select an encryption software that is compatible with your computer and mobile operating systems, as well as your cloud storage service provider. Your encryption application should use end-to-end encryption, and your password should never be kept.
