Rapper Silento charged with murder in Georgia

Rapper Silento charged with murder in Georgia.

According to TMZ, Silento has been charged with murder after a Georgia grand jury indicted him in the shooting of his cousin. After an inquiry into the man’s death, cops detained Silento (Hawks), in early February for allegedly murdering Frederick Rooks. On January 21st, Rooks, the rapper’s cousin, was shot and killed in the street. DeKalb County cops’ investigations linked Silento to the crime.

“After a thorough investigation, DKPD detectives identified Hawk as Rooks’ cousin and the person responsible for Rooks’ murder,” Michaela Vincent, a spokesperson for the police department, said.
According to fresh judicial documents, the rapper “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” was charged with four felonies by a grand jury.

The grand jury charged the rapper with one count of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and gun possession during the commission of a felony.

Hawks rose to prominence after his hit song “Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae)” became a viral smash in 2015.

The song reached number three on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and has since garnered over a billion views on youtube. The single has received six platinum certifications.
Hawks’ staff told TMZ that he had been struggling with mental health concerns for years.

The rapper was arrested multiple times last year. In August, he was arrested twice in Los Angeles, California, for domestic violence. In October, he was detained for speeding. Hawks was caught going 143 mph on an Atlanta roadway by police officers.

“If there is like 10 cars following me, I can do 143 because I am not a regular person, and you can go look on your computer and it would tell you that,” an incident report quotes Hawk’s excuse for speeding.

Silento’s crew believes he’s been dealing with mental health concerns for a long time.
He is still being detained without bond.
