Nandi woman kills man for allegedly defiling her two year old child.

A woman from Nandi county is nursing injuries at Kapsabet Referral Hospital after she was attacked by a mob for killing a man she claims had defiled her two year old daughter.

The woman, who is identified as Cheptoo had confessed to killing the alleged rapist over a phone call.

Police officers from Kamombo patrol base arrived at the scene after the area chief reported the incident to the police.

The officers however, were barred from accessing the site by an angry mob who were hungry for revenge.

“They wanted to kill Cheptoo. The officers from Kamombo then called for reinforcements from Kapsabet Police Station,” Commander David Anyir said.

The police however, managed to rescue the woman but were not able to retrieve the body of the deceased. Cheptoo’s house was also burnt to the ground by the people.

“Our patrol vehicle’s windscreen was smashed by residents but we were able to rescue the woman. The mob however barred us from retrieving the deceased’s body.” he said.
