Nadia Mukami Biography

Songstress Nadia Mukami is currently a force to reckon with in the Music Industry and not just here in Kenya but the whole of Africa. She has been breaking and setting new records as far as her music career is concerned.

Nadia grew up in a loving and caring home, which aided in her development into the stunning woman she is today. Nadia comes from a devout Christian family that has been a tower of strength for her throughout her life. She is the family’s fourth child.

Nadia Mukami Mwendo, a singer, was born in a family of five on November 9, 1996 at Pumwani Maternity Hospital. She is half-Kamba and half-Embu.

Nadia Mukami sat for her KCPE examinations in 2009 at Kari Primary School along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, and then went on to Mount Laverna School (Kasarani) for her secondary schooling.

She earned a B+, allowing her to enroll in Maseno University to pursue a degree in BBA Finance.

Smooth urban sounds blended with poetry and afro-pop define Nadia’s musical style. She has been a poet since high school, and her music is influenced by rhyme. Her father, who listened to Taarab music collections, as well as Tanzanian singers Ray C and Sanaipei Tande, inspired her when she began her singing career at the age of 17.

Nadia Mukami’s parents were initially opposed to her wish to pursue a career in music until they saw her on television and decided to support her ambition. While still at university, she recorded her debut song, but she put her music on wait once more and joined Equator FM, a campus radio station, where she aired a Saturday show called “Saturday Hip-Hop Count.”

When she recorded her song “Barua Ya Siri” in 2015, Nadia took up music professionally for the first time. She released her breakthrough hit “Kesi” in July 2017, which garnered widespread broadcast and gave her the opportunity to perform with Kenya’s top performers at events like Blaze by Safaricom (Kisumu), The Nile Festival, and The Luo Festival, among others.

A year later, she won the Kipawa Event on KTN and advanced to the finals of the Jenga Talanta show.

Sio Rahisi was released in 2018 by Hailemind Entertainment (former Management), and the song received a lot of exposure.

Nadia signed her first record deal with Hailemind Entertainment two years into her career, and was able to release four songs while under their management. Kesi, African Lover, Sio Rahisi, and Yule Yule are the four.

Nadia, on the other hand, part ways with David Guoro’s Hailemind Entertainment in 2019. Ms Mukami stated that money was the main reason for her departure, but she did not elaborate. She had also expressed dissatisfaction with her management’s handling of the situation.

Nadia Mukami Coke Studio

Nadia Mukami was one of the Kenyan artists who represented the country at Coke Studio Africa in 2019 as the huge break through talent. While being produced by Tanzania’s Lizer, she was teamed with Juma Jux (Tanzania) and Shellsy Baronet (Mozambique).

“The entire Coke Studio experience has taught me the importance of quality and discipline in everything you do,” Nadia added.

Nadia Mukami said she could have been a Journalist or a poet if she hadn’t been a musician.

Nadia Mukami Awards

Nadia received her first MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) nomination in 2021, competing against industry heavyweights such as WCB’s Diamond Platnumz, Wizkid, Casper Nyovest, Naira Mailey, Shatta Wale, A Reege, and Fally Ipupa in the Best Fan-Base Award Category.

She was nominated for the BET round one nomination in March 2020 alongside Sauti Sol, however they did not advance to the following round.

Nadia Mukami’s song Radio Love won two Pulse Music Video Accolades (PMVA) awards in 2019: Female Video of the Year and Video Director of the Year, which went to Ricky Bekko.

Nadia Mukami was nominated for the Africa Music Magazine Awards, or Afrimma Awards, in the Best Female East Africa category in 2020.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, 2020 was a successful year for the African pop artist, as she was nominated for an African Entertainment Award in the Best Female Artiste, East Africa category at the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA).

For the successful song “Radio Love,” Kenyan singer Nadia Mukami was nominated for the HiPipo awards as Best Kenyan Act.

Arrow Bwoy, who is also a singer, is currently dating Nadia Mukami.

Nadia had taken a hiatus from dating after being asked to cover the bill during a date. She decided to then shift her focus and devote all of her efforts to her career as a result of the entire experience.

In 2020, she also admitted that she gets stuck  while in relationships, and as a result, she took a one-year break from dating.
