Jalang’o to resign from Kiss Radio Job in February 2022 to focus on politics

In a morning talk at Kiss FM Radio hosted by Jalang’o, the Radio presenter revealed that he would be resigning from his Radio job come February next year. Jalang’o had already made his aspirations of vying for the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat public a while back.

However, there are laws that limit journalists from vying for a political seat while still attached to their jobs. Journalists are only allowed to vie on resignation 6 months before election period.

A month has passed now since the Media Council of Kenya Chief Executive Officer said that they were reviewing laws on media owners and journalists resigning from their jobs, six months before vying for any electoral seat in Kenya.

The remarks were made by CEO Omwoyo during the unveiling of a twenty member technical team tasked to review Elections Reporting Guidelines ahead of the 2022 General elections. The coucil has been working on finding out whether journalists can be allowed to keep working while campaigning to be elected for a political seat.
