Manchester United Stops Selling Mason Greenwood’s Jersey as Nike Suspends Sponsorship Deal.

Following “disturbing allegations” made against the England international, Manchester United has stopped selling Mason Greenwood’s shirt online, and Nike has suspended its partnership.

After photographs and voice recordings of suspected offenses were disseminated on social media, United suspended the 20-year-old on Sunday, January 30.

A guy in his twenties has also been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Customers can no longer use the 20-year-name old’s as an option for the back of products, and he is no longer listed on the club’s official online shop’s roster of players.

A search on the page for his name yields the result ‘your search for mason greenwood did not match any products.’

Statement from Nike.

The representative of the sportswear mogul told Reuters:

We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood.

We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.

A statement from Man Utd on the allegations read;

We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media.

We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established.

Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.

The Premier League club added that:

Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.

Statement by the Police.

“Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing. The local authorities said.”

Detectives have been granted additional time to speak to a man in his 20s who is being held on suspicion of rape and assault of a woman.

Inquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support.
